Last August I went to London and bought a few of Ilford films that I couldn't easily get in my small town for a reasonable price (I order online most of my film stuff and cameras, I've seen probably a few rolls of HP5+ in a shop I went once to print a few photos, and that's it). I got some HP5+, FP4+, Delta 3200, and, of course, the one that had just been released, Phoenix II.
Now I heard lots of bad stuff about Phoenix (it's sold as an experimental film after all), and also read somewhere that Phoenix II was an improvement on all fronts. This naively convinced me that it was like a regular color film, and boy was I wrong with my expectations, as you can see from the palette of the scans.
I decided to load it into my new (to me) Konica C35, a small rangefinder camera that can easily fit in the pocket of my winter coat, so my idea was just having it around, ready to take pictures whenever I felt like it. I loaded it in mid-January and finished it on the 10th of February: you can see various test photos, a few photos of my hometown, others taken during a weekend away, and various images of people that I've blurred because they're friends/coworkers and I respect their privacy even if they probably wouldn't care. The last 8 images in particular were taken on the 10th of February. On that day I went to lunch to McDonald's with a couple of colleagues, then in the evening we had a goodbye party at a bar for a colleague that changed jobs, and ended up again at McDonald's for a late dinner. I love junk food and even I thought I was exaggerating.
Anyway, not impressed by Phoenix II. I later tried Lucky C200 and found that much more to my simple tastes.
